Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Supervising Librarian I, the Librarian may perform the following duties: provides reference and research assistance to legal staff using both traditional book research and computer assisted legal research; original and copy cataloging; assists with collection development and is responsible for stack maintenance including weeding of obsolete materials; coordinates interlibrary loan requests; conducts library orientation of new legal staff and coordinates and/or provides Lexis and Westlaw training; assists the Supervising Librarian I with special projects.
Desirable Qualifications:
Graduation from college or university and completion of a graduate degree from an accredited library school is required. Experience in a law library, special library, or familiarity with legal materials. Knowledge of cataloging and classification principles. Good computer skills and knowledge of library and non library computer programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, online bibliographic systems, and online legal research (Lexis, Westlaw, PACER and the Internet). Ability to work cooperatively and tactfully with staff; demonstrated initiative and willingness to assume increased responsibility; ability to write and communicate effectively; use of tact and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues; ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously; ability to prioritize work; excellent organizational skills. Good attendance and punctuality are required.
