Description
Job Summary:
Primary responsibility for providing and promoting library services to students and faculty at the learning center campuses. Responsible for providing information literacy and electronic database training for nursing students and faculty. Collaborates with learning center faculty and library staff to continuously evaluate and improve library services. Librarian will be based in one of the learning center locations.



Qualifications
Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of the health science literature, especially in the field of nursing
· Skill in searching electronic information sources
· Ability to download, manipulate and disseminate the results of database searches
· Familiarity with RefWorks and other bibliographic citation tools
· Familiarity with MeSH, CINAHL, PubMed and NLM classification systems
· Ability to teach in a classroom setting as well as to small groups
· Ability to use software programs such as the Microsoft Office Suite to create effective documents, tables, graphs, bibliographies and instructional materials
· Experience in training people of diverse backgrounds and skill levels
· Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, faculty and staff
· Ability to explain complex concepts using the English language
· Some familiarity with AACR2 cataloging rules desirable
· Ability to function independently and use good professional judgment

Education and/or Experience
· MLS or MLIS from an accredited program
· Two years of experience in an academic or health sciences library

Physical Requirements:
· Ability to communicate using the spoken word and to hear verbal communication
· Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, as well as push, climb, bend, kneel and stoop
· Ability to read and keyboard documents
· Ability to concentrate on complex tasks for prolonged periods of time
· Ability to understand and communicate complex ideas by means of the spoken word
· Must have the ability to move about campus and transport oneself to various off-site locations, including the main Oakland campus
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time
