Library Associate, Sacramento Public Library

Position:
The Sacramento Public Library is seeking candidates for our Library Associate position. One position is specializing in Multicultural Services and another position is specializing in Public Services Support. The library aims to provide a broad range of materials and services for all sections of the community including those from non-English speaking backgrounds. Our main focus is to provide excellent customer service to the entire community.

The Multicultural Associate’s primary responsibilities will be to act as liaison with diverse community groups in Sacramento County to develop new relationships as well as cultivate existing ones in order to meet the needs of the ethnic diversity of our library users. Reporting to the Manager of Community Services, this individual will be instrumental in recommending, planning, developing and implementing multicultural library services.

The Public Services Support Associate is a key role in the heartbeat of the branch. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast paced environment and optimize given resources with strong leadership skills. The incumbent must have excellent computer skills to assist the public and as well as the ability to adapt quickly to change. This individual’s duties range from working behind the reference desk, circulation desk, training new staff and event planning to working on the branch web page.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree;
Outstanding customer service and communication skills are essential to the success of the individual in this key position. Bilingual skills and a demonstrated understanding of and involvement with diverse ethnic, linguistic and cultural groups are preferred.
