Description
Job Summary:
Primary responsibility for information literacy as well as library reference and outreach services, collection development, and selection and integration of electronic resources for the allied health professions. Works with the Library Director in support of library strategic planning and participates in divisional and university-wide planning efforts. Coordinates with the Library Director to create, prioritize and implement library goals and objectives. Supervises other library employees in the Director's absence.


Qualifications
Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of health science literature, listservs, blogs, wikis and other information sources
•Skill in searching the internet and other electronic information sources, including discipline specific databases and integrated library systems
•Ability to download, manipulate and disseminate results of database searches
•Familiarity with the concepts of web design and website usability
•Familiarity with MeSH, CINAHL, NLM/LC and other classification systems and subject vocabularies
•Experience in teaching information literacy skills and in conducting remedial instruction with students deficient in this area
•Ability to evaluate quality of information resources
· Experience in teaching people of diverse backgrounds and skill levels
•Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, faculty, staff and health care professionals
•Ability to evaluate, adapt and use technology in a rapidly changing environment
•Ability to manipulate software programs and databases so as to create effective documents, tables, graphs, bibliographies, and instructional materials
•Ability to evaluate and troubleshoot mobile device hardware and software
•Must be comfortable teaching large and small groups as well as be able to instruct a library technician to assist with these sessions

Education/Experience:
•MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited library program
•Three years experience in an academic or health sciences library

Physical Requirements:
•Must have ability to move about to accomplish tasks across campus
•Physical ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, push, climb, bend, kneel, and stoop
•Hand and finger dexterity for complex ideas by means of the spoken word
•Ability to read and write documents
•Ability to concentrate on complex tasks for prolonged periods of time
•Ability to sit for extended periods of time
•Ability to understand and communicate complex ideas by means of the spoken word
•Ability to teach classes in a computer lab where it may benefit students to have the lights lowered in front of a projected computer screen
•Ability to project one's voice in the absence of an amplification system
