Senior Library Technician - Travis AFB, CA

There is an immediate full-time opening for a senior library technician, (pay plan/grade: NF-1411-03) at Mitchell Memorial Library, Travis AFB CA, 94535. The salary starts at $15.50 an hour, additional Sunday premium pay. There are full benefits: paid vacation, health insurance and a retirement system after you have worked here 1 year.

Completion of some college or a college degree is desirable. Applicant must have two years specialized experience working in a library that provided specific knowledge of library rules, policies and procedures for circulation and technical services. Work requires fluency in computer applications such as MS Office Suite; must be able to type 40 wpm and produce well-written documents with ease. This position can include performing duties in facility management, public service, programming, public relations, circulation, cataloging, Unicorn library system maintenance and related duties, as well as training new staff to perform their duties. Applicant should be conversant with library automation and provide director with statistical reports.

Sacramento Superior Court Librarian

WHAT: The Sacramento County Public Law Library is seeking an experienced librarian to become a full-time member of the Law Library's support services team. The Court librarian reports directly to the assistant director for support services. The Court librarian’s work space is located in the Sacramento Superior Court’s Main Courthouse

HOURS: Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Must be flexible with hours. There may be some weekend hours from time to time.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Ability to competently perform a full-range of law library duties; learn and use an integrated online library system; prepare clear, concise directions for law library work routines; understand and follow oral and written directions; acquisitions; occasionally perform routine serials check-in, pocket parting and loose leaf updating; occasionally transport books and boxes of books weighing up to 50 lbs; effectively communicate in English both written and verbally; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
􀂃 As a member of the support services team, develops, implements, and maintains a range of library services for the Sacramento Superior Court and performs any duty essential to the achievement of effective library operations.
􀂃 Able to work self directed, set priorities and meet deadlines.
􀂃 Evaluates information resources in all formats, integrates them to meet the needs of the Sacramento Superior court and discards or archives them as appropriate.
􀂃 Uses project management and other team tools to complete projects successfully.
􀂃 Performs centralized court library acquisitions.
􀂃 Verifies invoices for payment, responds to vendor inquiries and resolves billing discrepancies.
􀂃 Prepares library inventories and collection layouts for multiple court locations.
􀂃 Provides lead direction and assistance to law library staff in processing, distributing, updating Superior Court library materials.


SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary range is from $4,583.17 to $5,570.87 per month and will be set commensurate with education and experience. Additional $987 per month may be used toward the library’s cafeteria plan benefits. Cafeteria options include choice of several health plans, dental plan, short-term disability, life and other insurance plans, out-of pocket medical and family care reimbursement, and cash back. CalPERS retirement plan includes 7% employee contribution, optional 457 deferred compensation plan, employer paid long-term disability, and rapid transit or parking subsidies. Northern California Association of Law Libraries and American Association of Law Libraries membership provided. 14 Paid holidays, vacation accrual, sick leave accrual 10 hours per month.

Position: Medical Library Manager, F/TLocation: Sacramento

Qualifications: MLIS and minimum of 5 years experience in a medical or health sciences library. Three years experience managing operations, including budgeting and staff supervision.Strong problem-solving ability, demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clients, peers, and vendors. Knowledge and experience with on-line search systems and software programs, PC and LAN technologies, and internet technologies.

DUTIES: Directs, implements, and manages knowledge based information services. Provides technical and administrative support for these services. Serves as consultant for knowledge-based clinical reference technology to staff. Develops, implements, and manages projects in knowledge based information, informatics, and the internet. Develops and administers library budget. Formulates and implements needs assessments, quality assurance programs, policies and procedures for the operation and maintenance of library services. Hires, trains, guides and evaluates Health Sciences Library staff in the provision of library and knowledge-based systems services. Manages staff in multiple locations and provides library services directly to clients at one medical center location. Responsible for successful consolidation of library services and ensuring access to services from all locations. Evaluates new methods and emerging knowledge based information technology to determine compatibility, cost effectiveness, and potential benefit. Plans, analyzes and evaluates library services on an on-going basis to ensure that medical personnel's information needs are being met and improves existing services or implements new services.
