The Institution

Folsom Lake College is the fourth and newest college in the Los Rios
Community College District. The college and its centers, El Dorado and
Rancho Cordova, are a dynamic learning community committed to academic

strong focus on student success. To this end, the college provides
varied degree and certificate programs, a variety of learning
opportunities and ensures a comprehensive student services program. In
an attempt to meet student needs, the college provides classes in a
variety of formats including semester, short term, weekend, and open
entry-open exit, as well as classes offered during traditional vacation
periods.


Folsom Lake College incorporates the newest technologies for classroom
instruction, as well as provides opportunity for faculty to offer
courses in a variety of distance education formats. The college also
features an Innovation Center, which offers training for faculty and
staff, as well as assistance to faculty in course development.



Primary Responsibilities


Under the supervision of the Dean of Instruction and Technology and with
the collaboration of the other librarians, the Public Access Services
Librarian shall coordinate the services of circulation, interlibrary
loan, and reserves (print and electronic). The Public Access Services
Librarian shall also provide reference, information and instruction
services to students, faculty and staff; select materials in subject
areas for print and electronic collections; maintain up-to-date
instruction materials for library resources; assist in expanding and
promoting services to strengthen library support of distance education
students and faculty; and provide library instruction in a variety of
settings and formats that may include library credit courses.


General Responsibilities

In addition, the Public Access Services Librarian shall also serve on
department, college or district committees; meet with faculty,
administrators and library staff on academic or professional matters;
maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her profession;
uphold standard of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the
position and assume other responsibilities as assigned. The assignment
may include evening and/or weekend hours, and service at the El Dorado
Center.

* Recent work experience as a public services librarian in a community
college environment or equivalent.

* Experience using current technology to support student learning.

Requirements

1. Have a master's degree from an accredited institution in
library science, library and information science completed by August 23,
2007; OR, hold a California Community College Instructor's Credential in
Library Science; OR, the equivalent. Note: Applicants applying under
"the equivalent" provision must provide details and explain how their
academic preparation is the equivalent of the degrees listed above.

2. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic
socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community
college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities
as it relates to differences in learning styles.



Salary
Entering annual salary varies from $42,150 to $69,880 depending upon
units and degrees completed at accredited colleges/universities and on
verified experience. Additional earnings may be available for summer,
overloads and stipends.

Job Offer Requirements

Offers of employment are contingent upon successful clearance from a
criminal background check, freedom from tuberculosis and proof of
identity and eligibility to work in the United States prior to the first
day of work. When education is a requirement for the position, official
academic transcripts from the accredited college/university must be
submitted within 60 days of hire.



Contingent on funding and eligibility, successful candidates selected
