Job Responsibilities:
  1. Overseeing overall electronic functions of the Jay Sexter Library, including the library website and the Innovative Interfaces Millennium integrated library stystem.
  2. Working in a coordinated fashion with other Touro libraries to provide access to electronic resources.

  4. Overseeing compliance with various licensing agreements.

Qualifications:

  1. MLS/MLIS degree or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
  2. Knowledge of OCLC and integrated library systems such as Innovative Interfaces.
  3. Knowledge of methods of accessing e-resources.
  4. Working knowledge of online databases, particularly in medicine and education.
  5. Good oral and written communication; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  6. Strong customer service orientation.
  7. Minimum of three years professional library experience, preferably in a health sciences library.

The Sacramento Public Library is seeking candidates for our Library Associate position. The library aims to provide a broad range of materials and services for all sections of the community including those from non-English speaking backgrounds. This individual’s duties range from working behind the reference desk, circulation desk, training new staff and event planning to working on the branch web page.

Position summary: Instructional Assignment Under the supervision of the area dean, and in collaboration with the other librarians, the Public Services Librarian shall:
.provide reference and information services to students and staff;

Serves as consultant for knowledge-based clinical reference technology to staff. Develops, implements, and manages projects in knowledge based information, informatics, and the internet. Develops and administers library budget. Formulates and implements needs assessments, quality assurance programs, policies and procedures for the operation and maintenance of library services. Hires, trains, guides and evaluates Health Sciences Library staff in the provision of library and knowledge-based systems services. Manages staff in multiple locations and provides library services directly to clients at one medical center location. Responsible for successful consolidation of library services and ensuring access to services from all locations. Evaluates new methods and emerging knowledge based information technology to determine compatibility, cost effectiveness, and potential benefit. Plans, analyzes and evaluates library services on an on-going basis to ensure that medical personnel's information needs are being met and improves existing services or implements new services.

California State Library - Braille and Talking Book Library

Before appling for the position the applicant has to pass the California State Library examination for Librarian and be put on a list of eligible candidates. It has not always been possible to take the exam, but it was recently re-opened with a continuous filing date.

Even if someone is not interested in the BTBL position, they might be glad to know of the open examination process for entry level Librarians at the California State Library. Job Description:

Coordination, reference and collection development services, programming, and outreach support for the Braille and Talking Book Library (BTBL).

DUTIES:

Assists in KLAS (Keystone Library Automation System) system administration.
Assists staff in trouble-shooting KLAS performance issues.
Recommends service improvements to the BTBL manager.
Tracks and assists in resolving hardware and software problems
Acts as the liaison with KLAS, CSL Information Technology Bureau and other vendors, as needed.
Plans and implements KLAS training for BTBL staff.
Provides equipment specifications according to guidelines.
Provides telephone, virtual, and in-person reference services
Assists with selection, ordering, cataloging and classification of library materials.
Assists in the development and implementation of special programs.
