Duties and Responsibilities
The ADP/PSD-Prevention Services has an opening for a full-time, permanent SSA position. Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, Resource Center, the incumbent will exercise a high degree of originality and initiative to analyze and make recommendations to the operation and activities related to the Resource Center Library. Also, the incumbent will:
  • Research current trends in the in the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) field for the purpose of reviewing and analyzing all proposed publications and audiovisual materials for acquisition and inclusion into the library collection; research and review principles and techniques in the field of library science for purposes of application to collection maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain detailed policies and procedures for the cataloging of all library publications and materials; develop and apply appropriate circulation procedures for all library materials disseminated within the department, to public and private organizations, and to individual library patrons from the general public.
  • Process and track journals using library databases and maintain tracking systems for library materials including receiving, routing and issuing notifications on overdue loans.
  • Research and analyze on-line databases, Internet, and other specialized information for the purpose of overseeing and providing reference and research services for the Library and its patrons.
  • Collect and analyze data for reports on reference, research, and library usage statistics.
  • Responsible for the continuous update of annual catalogs.
  • Instruct and assist patrons in the use of catalogs and reference sources, and accessing the LibraryNet database.
  • Prepare, oversee and monitor journal subscription services; responsible for preparing Request for Quotes, purchase orders, and tracking invoices.
  • Monitor contracts for student assistance and Technical Assistance for prevention services.
  • Attend quarterly Prevention Committee meetings; record major points discussed by the members; summarize main points and any action items for ADP; and prepare reports for the Prevention Assistant Deputy Director
Desirable Qualifications

Competently clarify, understand and follow oral and written directions Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent Internet research capabilities and strong personal computer skills using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; Power Point beneficial. LibraryNet database beneficial.
