Library Supervisor III - Sacramento Public Library

About the Position:

The Sacramento Public Library is seeking dynamic and forward thinking candidates with excellent leadership skills to lead a Central Library division or a medium-large Branch Library.

We currently have one (1) open position at our Central Library and through this examination process will be establishing an eligibility list for future openings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited college or university

- AND-

Three years as a Professional Librarian, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.

About the Library:

The Sacramento Public Library Authority is the fourth largest library system in California serving the public in the City and County of Sacramento and five surrounding cities. The Sacramento Public Library operates 27 libraries, including a main library in downtown Sacramento and the Sacramento Room which houses our special collections. The Library has over 300 staff members, a collection of 2M volumes, and a budget of $35M. More than 600,000 residents have a library card and over 7M items are circulated annually.

Selection Process:
The selection process will include a review of the application, resume, cover letter and responses to the supplemental questions. The most qualified candidates will be invited to attend an oral interview. The examination may include, but is not limited to, the essential knowledge skills and abilities listed. Interviews may be conducted via teleconference or videoconference for candidates from long distances. The application process is also part of the examination process. All submitted application materials will be reviewed and screened based on the necessary employment standards for the position.
