Job Description:
The mission of the Housing Resource Center (HRC) within the Division of Housing Policy Development (HPD) is to utilize online and printed sources, including the Internet, to provide information and to maintain an organized collection of materials in support of the diverse policy and program activities of HPD and the Department. HPD is responsible for identifying housing and community development issues and needs and developing recommendations/policies to meet those needs.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Deputy Director, the Senior Librarian (Specialist) acts as the Coordinator of the HRC. The HRC Coordinator oversees the daily operation of the Center: evaluates, reviews and recommends additions to the HRC collection; responsible for collection organization; formulates plans to effectively address Department's changing information needs; provides technical assistance to and disseminates information to HCD staff, local governments, other State agencies and interested parties, using in-house databases, online databases and bulletin boards, the Internet, and the State Library; and serves as HPD's lead person in publication of the daily news briefs and electronic bibliographies.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Expert knowledge of libraries, and library technologies, computers/information technology and the Internet. Familiarity with Word and DBTextWorks and other database software and applications, California State government, housing an community development, and planning information sources.
